What to Carry.

What to carry.

A pair of trekking boots.

A pair of trekking boots will be ideal to carry along with you. This will help with your comfort while climbing and also avoid sliding and blisters because of the long journey.

Socks with wool.

The wool socks will help with the temperature to warm your body and also prevent blisters and keep your body dry.

Down jacket.

Ideal to keep your body warm body warm because of the high temperature of the mountain. Make sure it is big enough to cover your whole body.

Gloves.

Gloves will be used to cover your hands, which should be lightweight to keep your arms warm.

Waterproof clothes.

At some point in the rain forest, you might experience rain while trekking, so it is advised without taking any risks to have a raincoat with you, where it the last, which should be waterproof.

Sunglasses.

Used to protect your eyes from the rain experienced in the rain forest.

Head beanie

Trekking trousers.

Many people think of wearing heavy jeans, but that is not a good practice. We usually advise using trekking trousers. We usually advise having at least 2 pairs of trousers, and maybe having long underwear

Trekking Itinerary.

Day 1: Nairobi – Moshi.

1st day, pick up from your hotel in Nairobi or any part of Nairobi or even the airport and start your journey to Moshi. You will have a stopover at the Namanga border at the migration offices where you will obtain your visas, have lunch along the way, and then continue with the journey arriving afternoon. Check-in to the hotel, dinner, and overnight will be served.

Day 2: Machame gate- Machame camp.

The second day is when you will start the actual climbing, wake very early in the morning, have breakfast then be picked up by our tour guide all things already planned for you. Drive to Machame gate takes about 40 – 50 minutes where you will have to sign up, then ports will be assigned to carry your staff up the mountain. They will also check the weight of the bags which should be 20kgs.

Make sure you have personal belongings like extra clothes and energy drinks. Start you’re trekking to Machame camps where you will be welcomed by the porters who arrive early to make sure things are ready for you. Lunch will be served en route while dinner and overnight at Machame camps. The camps accommodate 6 – 7 parsons each.

Day 3: Machame camp – Shira hut.

3rd of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro will head to Shira huts. You will experience a change in the weather conditions having to wear more heavy clothes. Wake up in the morning, have breakfast then continue with the hiking. Lunch will be served in one of the lunch points halfway to Shira huts. Hiking time will be for 6 hours with stopovers to get some knowledge on the mountain. Arrive, Shira, where you will find everything ready for you. Dinner and overnight will be served for you.

Day 4: Shira to Barranco Camp.

Morning breakfast then starts a long day of trekking of around 6 hours. Lunch will be on the way, lunch place where the cook will have carried. Continue to Barranco camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Barranco to Karanga camp.

Leave Barranco Camp after having your morning breakfast at Karanga Camp. Lunch along the way will be served, dinner and overnight will be at Karanga camp.

Day 5: Barranco to Karanga camp.

Leave Barranco Camp after having your morning breakfast at Karanga Camp. Lunch along the way will be served, dinner and overnight will be at Karanga camp.

Day 6: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp.

Morning breakfast then continues trekking to Barafu camp. The weather then will have changed. Lunch will be served along the way. Dinner and overnight at Barafu camp.

Day 7: Barafu to Uhuru peaks to lower Mweka camp.

This is the last day of trekking the mountain. This will take you to the very pick of the mountain. After some hours at the top, you will start the descent down the mountain. With the descent, it is very quick so you will get back to Mweka camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Mweka camp – Arusha.

Continue with the descent down have lunch then transfer to Arusha for an international flight or drive back to Nairobi to catch your international flight in Nairobi.
