What to Carry.

What to carry.

A pair of trekking boots.

A pair of trekking boots will be ideal to carry along with you. This will help with your comfort while climbing and also avoid sliding and blisters because of the long journey.

Socks with wool.

The wool socks will help with the temperature to warm your body and also prevent blisters and have your body dry.

Down jacket.

Ideal to keep your body warm body warm because of the high temperature of the mountain. Make sure it is big enough to cover your whole body.

Gloves.

Gloves will be used to cover your hands which should be lightweight to keep your arms warm.

Waterproof clothes.

At some point in the rain forest, you might experience rain while trekking, so it is advised without taking any risks to have a raincoat with you, where it the last, which should be waterproof.

Sunglasses.

Used to protect your eyes from the rain experiences in the rain forest.

Head beanie

Trekking trousers.

Many people think of wearing heavy jeans but that is not a good practice. We usually advise using trekking trousers. We usually advise having at least 2 pairs of trousers and maybe having long underwear

Trekking Itinerary.

Day 1. Sirimon – Old Moses Camp.

Nairobi – Nanyuki to Old Moses camp 3300m.

Pick up from your Nairobi hotel after breakfast, and you will take the transfer vehicle for the drive from Nairobi to Nanyuki (4 hours). There, you will pick up the other team of cooks and porters and drive for 1 hour to Sirimon Park Gate, at 2,650 m, where the trekking starts. After clearing with the park authority, we will begin the hike through the forest, accompanied by guides, a cook, and porters, to Old Moses camp at 3,300 m. arriving in the afternoon. 9 km. / 3 hrs.

Day 2: Old Moses – Shipton camp 4200m.

After breakfast, hike through the moorland viewing high altitude flowers, animals, and bird species up Mackinder’s valley to Shipton camp 4,200m. at the bottom of the peaks. 16 km. / 7 hrs.

Day 3: Shipton- Lenana to Met-Station 3,050m.

After an early tea/coffee, you’ll start the climb up, leaving the vegetation zone and walking on the loose scree for 3 hrs., climb up to Lenana Peak 4,985 m. for sunrise and take pictures. After great views from the top after sunrise, you descend to meet the team at Mackinder’s camp on the Naromoru route, where you stop for breakfast. After breakfast, proceed to Met Station camp 3,050m. arriving in time for lunch and then driving down through the forest to Naromoru gate 2,440m. where you sign out of the mountain and drive back to Nairobi. 17 km. / 12 hrs.
